Gourmet Green Peppercorns

Mild, fresh and gently fruity peppercorns for creamy sauces, steak, vegetables, soups and refined savoury cooking.

SpiceBloom Gourmet Green Peppercorns are made from under-ripe pepper berries and freeze-dried to help retain their bright aroma and distinctive green-pepper character. Compared with black or white peppercorns, they offer a gentler bite with subtle fruity notes.

Green peppercorns are especially well suited to creamy sauces and delicate recipes where stronger pepper could dominate. Use them whole in soups, stews and brines, gently crush them for sauces, or grind them immediately before serving.

Kitchen tip: For a softer texture in sauces, briefly soak the peppercorns in warm water, stock or cream before crushing and adding them to the dish.

A Gentler Style of Pepper

Green peppercorns bring peppery aroma and freshness without the heavier heat associated with darker varieties.

Creamy Sauces

Crush into cream, stock or pan sauces for steak, chicken, mushrooms, potatoes and vegetables.

🍲

Soups and Stews

Add whole peppercorns during cooking for a brighter and less aggressive pepper flavour.

🫙

Brines and Finishing

Use in savoury brines or grind freshly over eggs, seafood, vegetables and soft cheeses.

How to Use Green Peppercorns

  • Pepper steak: Lightly crush and stir into a cream or stock-based pan sauce.
  • Vegetables: Pair with mushrooms, asparagus, potatoes, peas or roasted root vegetables.
  • Soups and stews: Add whole during cooking or crush for a stronger pepper note.
  • Seafood and chicken: Use where the gentler flavour will not overwhelm delicate ingredients.
  • Grinding: Grind only the quantity needed to preserve the brightest aroma.
  • Seasoning: Begin with a small amount and increase after tasting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are green peppercorns spicy?

They have a peppery bite, but their flavour is generally milder, fresher and fruitier than black or white peppercorns.

Can they be used in a pepper grinder?

Should green peppercorns be soaked before cooking?

Soaking is optional. A short soak in warm water, stock or cream can soften them before they are added to a sauce.
